Interview Tips & Tricks

In any job interview - computer-based with a chatbot or face-to-face with a recruiter - remember three things:

  1. Be yourself
  2. Answer appropriately
  3. Consider the person interviewing you

1. Be yourself. Your answers should give the recruiter an accurate picture of who you actually are. Let the recruiter know about why you and your experiences make you a good candidate for the job. Don't try to be somebody else or present other qualities than what you have.

2. Answer appropriately. There are no trick questions in the Hubert interview, and questions would not have a "right" or "wrong" answer. Therefore, the best way for you to succeed in the Hubert interview, is actually pretty simple: Answer the question according to instructions and in as much detail as you see is appropriate.

3. Consider the person interviewing you. As a general advice for how to get high scores to a question in the Hubert interview, put yourself in the shoes of the recruiter! What do you think they would deem as a good and relevant answer? Probably an answer that meets the qualifying criteria for the role, but also contains something that would make your answer somewhat special, or stand out, in comparison to other candidates.

If you are not used to going to job interviews and answering questions about yourself, perhaps you might want to let a friend interview you in a mock interview. And then give you feedback and make you think about the answers you presented.

Needless to say, make sure to follow the instructions given before the question in the Hubert interview. For instance, when answering a question related to a specific situation, make sure that you describe the situation AND what your actions were AND what the result was from your actions. Writing “OK” is not a good answer when Hubert asks you to elaborate.

But don’t write too lengthy answers, either. Make sure that the recruiter (or Hubert) will be able to understand your competencies and experiences. Again, put yourself in the shoes of the recruiter - just like you would in a face-to-face-interview!
